Buying

Bidding on whisky with Royal Mile Whisky Auctions is easy, and should you secure a lot then our shipping service is secure and with highly competitive rates. We also believe strongly that a truly fair and open auction is a great way to set a price, but only if certain rules are in place. We believe our ethics are unique in the whisky auction industry, so click here to be reassured why RMWA is the best site for bidders.

Registering As A Buyer

All bidders need to register as a customer with a credit or debit card, but this process is easy and quick. All you need to do is fill out your address details and your credit card or debit card number as you would when making an online purchase.

Register Today

Bidding

Once the auction is live and you are registered you can enter the maximum amount you are prepared to pay for the lot. If you have the highest bid and someone else bids on the lot the total will increase in set increments (detailed below) to the next highest amount above the other bid. If you are outbid we will let you know by email. Our bidding increments are as follows:

Price Range Increment
£0 - £24.99 £1.00
£25.00 - £49.99 £2.00
£50.00 - £99.99 £5.00
£100.00 - £499.99 £10.00
£500.00 - £999.99 £25.00
£1,000.00 - £1,999.99 £50.00
£2,000.00 - No Limit £100.00

If any lot receives a bid within two minutes before a lot ends, the lot continues for a further three minutes. This system prevents bidders with sniping software having an unfair advantage over other bidders, and we feel it is the best way to find a fair market price. This process may extend lots by a few hours, depending on activity.

Paying For Your Lots

Should you win a bottle, we will issue an invoice after the end of the auction. Please be aware that all lots are subject to a buyers commission of 10% of the hammer price. VAT is not applicable to the hammer price of the lot but is applied to commission and any further charges.

We will expect you to make payment within 3 working days to allow us to pay the seller. At the point of payment our shops in London, Edinburgh and Pitlochry can be selected as collection points and you will not be charged for shipping. Please note it may take a few days to transfer these bottles after payment, so please get in touch if you are in a hurry.
